Woodside High moves on to CCS division playoffs Woodside High moves on to CCS division playoffs (December 01, 2004)

No. 1 seeded Woodside High powered into the CCS Medium School Division playoffs Friday by defeating No. 4 seed Terra Nova 39-6 at San Mateo High.

Woodside (12-0) now faces No. 6 seed Westmont (9-3) in the finals at 7 p.m. Friday at Milpitas High.

In the semifinal contest against Terra Nova (7-5), Woodside's senior running back Tyreece Jacks rushed for 244 yards and scored two touchdowns. The previous week in the playoff opener, Jacks scored six times in Woodside's 56-0 clobbering of Evergreen Valley.

Against Terra Nova, Woodside's senior quarterback Julian Edelman completed five of 11 passes for 100 yards, including a 54-yard pass to Spencer Garrison for a touchdown in the closing seconds of the first half.

Later, in the final seconds of the game, Garrison returned an interception 66 yards for a touchdown.

Gil Hernandez kicked two field goals -- 37 and 32 yards -- for Woodside.

In two playoff games, opponents have scored only six points against Woodside's defense, powered by tackles David Motuliki (340 pounds) and David Meafoou (350 pounds).
