Seventy years ago (December 08, 2004)

This caption ran with a picture in the print edition: This picture of Las Lomitas School students was probably taken in June 1934, says Miriam Philbrick Harvey, who is on the far left in the second row from the front. She attended Las Lomitas in the seventh and eighth grades, and graduated from the school in 1935. She now lives in Lake Oswego, Oregon. Principal Charles Neiderhauser is in the middle of the top row. Among names she remembers are, in the back row, Charles Sturtz, fourth from left; and Sydney Neiderhauser, third from right. In the second row from the front: Winifred Green, second from left; Anne Bassett, fifth from left; Marion Allen, sixth from left; and Virginia Garland, far right. In the front row, she remembers Jimmy Jacobi (who used to bring a snake to school wrapped around his neck), fourth from left; and Jack Whipple, sixth from left. Las Lomitas School observed its centennial this year. Paul Robbiano is the third row from the front on the far left. Readers with questions or information may contact Ms. Harvey's daughter, Margaret Winters, at 366-2502. Ms. Winters lives in Atherton.
