(December 08, 2004) Twenty-one authors are expected at Woodside Library gathering

Local authors, from poets to mystery writers, are set to hobnob with the public at a reception at the Woodside Library on Friday, December 10, starting at 7 p.m. The event, hosted by the Friends of the Woodside Library, is informal, although it will be livened up by classical music interludes performed by We Three Strings, a trio of young (ages 11 to 16) performers.
Among the authors slated to attend are "Our Leaves" novelist Bridget Tao Tang; Woodside restauranteur and raconteur James MacNiven, who recently published the memoir "Breakfast at Buck's"; and Portola Valley historian Nancy Lund.
In all, 21 writers from poets to cookbook authors, an architecture expert to a children's librarian, will mingle, sign and sell books, and nosh on hors d'oeuvres catered by Buck's restaurant.
The authors are: Anne Baldwin, Dr. Walter Bortz, Phyllis Filibertini Butler, Mary Marcia Casoly, David Fleishhacker, Robert Funge, Pamela Gullard, Bruce Jewett, David Laws, Anne Loftis, Nancy Lund, Fred Luskin, Pam Mayer, Jamis MacNiven, Susan Mokelke, Lynne O'Dell, Mary O'Shaughnessy, Margaret Smith, Bridget Tao-Tang, Barbara Varenhorst and Lorene Zouzounis.
We Three Strings is a trio of San Mateo County residents who met while playing for the Peninsula Youth Orchestra, says Kelsey Walsh, 16, who is the eldest member of the group. The other members are Moeka Takagi, 12, and Kendall Fisher, 11.
The three girls began performing together in September and play at weddings and parties, Kelsey says. She has played violin at several Woodside Library poetry readings in the past.
The library is located at 3140 Woodside Road in Woodside, across from Woodside Elementary School.
