Police capture man after freeway chase
(December 22, 2004) A man was arrested in Sunnyvale by Menlo Park police last week after an early morning high-speed car chase on U.S. 101, police said.
At about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 14, officers attempted to stop a southbound vehicle on the freeway near University Avenue; they began a chase when the driver refused to stop, police said.
During the chase, police said, the driver threw narcotics out the window of his vehicle.
The car chase ended at the Fair Oaks Avenue exit in Sunnyvale, where the driver crashed into a ravine, police said. The pursuit continued on foot until officers captured him.
The driver was treated for dizziness but was otherwise uninjured, police said. He was booked into the San Mateo County jail on charges that include two felonies: driving under the influence and possession of cocaine for sale.
