Rebuilding Together Peninsula gets present

A longtime volunteer has presented a Menlo Park nonprofit group with a holiday present: a donation of $1,500.

Helen Fisicaro, an employee of Pacific Gas & Electric Co., gave the contribution to Rebuilding Together Peninsula, part of a national network that organizes volunteers to renovate homes and community buildings. She has been involved with the organization for nearly 10 years as a volunteer and donor, said executive director Loretta Gallegos.

The money came from the $5,000 Ms. Fisicaro received as part of PG&E's Frederick W. Mielke Jr. Award for Outstanding Community Service. Award recipients give the money to nonprofit groups of their choice; Ms. Fisicaro also donated to HIP Housing in San Mateo and the Daly City Emergency Food Pantry, said Julia Hand, Rebuilding Together marketing director.
