Alpine soccer team wins league title Alpine soccer team wins league title (December 29, 2004)

The Alpine Stampede girls under-14 CYSA soccer team won first place in its CYSA league with seven wins and only one loss.

Two years ago, the team was winless, but now has the best record in the Redwood Junior Soccer League, which fields nine girls under 14. Tim Barr coached the team, and Patty Raleigh was the manager.

Team members are from Menlo Park, Woodside, Portola Valley, Palo Alto, Pescadero, La Honda and Belmont.

Next season the team will move up to Class 1, a higher division of competitive play.

Team members are Becky Byler, Gina Giarmo, Claire Fuselier, Nicki Naylor, Betsy Builder, Brooke Marsal, Juliet Carnoy, Willa Caughey, Libby Cooper, Annie Leask, Sonia Kolorov, Katie Flanagan, Laura Bevilacqua, Aimee Raleigh, Brianne Orrante, and Natalie Johnson.
