Sports Briefs: 49ers name Nicolopulos coach of year
(December 29, 2004) The San Francisco 49ers have named Woodside High School varsity football coach Steve Nicolopulos as the 2004 Charlie Wedemeyer coach of the year.
The award is in recognition of a perfect 2004 season for the Woodside Wildcats, who went 13-0 in regular and post-season play and were the only undefeated team in the Central Coast Section, a 49ers statement said.
The Wildcats won the title for the Medium School Division after a 36-20 victory over Westmont High School on November 30. Nicolopulos is the athletic director at Woodside and is in his second stint as head football coach.
