Magazine salesman accused of assault to be arraigned Magazine salesman accused of assault to be arraigned (January 19, 2005)

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for a magazine salesman accused of assaulting an elderly Menlo Park woman after she opened the door of her home to the salesman on October 6.

D'Angelo Langford, 19, of Georgia is scheduled to appear before San Mateo County Superior Court Judge Mark Forcum at 9 a.m. Thursday, February 24. Mr. Langford's hearing was originally scheduled for January 18, but was delayed to allow his attorney to review DNA evidence.

A salesman allegedly forced an 80-year-old woman back from her door and into her house, then severely beat her and tore off her blouse. A neighbor heard the woman's screams and pounded on the door, at which point the attacker fled on foot, Menlo Park police said.

Acting on a description of the suspect, police picked up Mr. Langford in Palo Alto later that evening.
