Tsunami relief
(January 19, 2005) Caption with picture in print edition: On a cold and windy January 8, these Ladera kids with 35 other volunteers raised $10,000 for the Red Cross Tsunami Relief Fund in just a few hours. They manned three collection stations in the neighborhood under the direction of Dianne Gow and Brian McGarry. "I think they were so successful because people wanted to help, but didn't know where to give," says Marti Tedesco, editor of the Ladera Crier. Shown, from left, are Griffin McGarry, Jack Tedesco, Matthew McGarry, Dianne Gow, Alex Gow, Jeff LaPlante, Brian McGarry and James Tedesco. Donations continue to come in.
