Woodside Priory expansion plans up for discussion Woodside Priory expansion plans up for discussion (January 19, 2005)

The community discussion over expansion plans by the Woodside Priory School is scheduled to resume at the January 19 meeting of the Portola Valley Planning Commission. The meeting begins at 8 p.m. in the Historic Schoolhouse at 765 Portola Road.

The commission last met on this topic in August 2004. Since then, the school has revised its master plan. This meeting will be the first opportunity for the public to discuss the revised plan.

Among the revisions: proposed sharing with town residents of the school's athletic facilities -- a gym, tennis courts, track and four fields; a new drainage plan to protect Corte Madera Creek; and responses to letters from neighbors.

Some town residents and elected officials have been concerned about the school's traffic impacts on neighboring streets, its desire to raise enrollment limits, and plans to build several new structures, including a 400-seat performing arts center, a fitness center, new classrooms, a new tennis court, offices and housing.

A copy of the three-phase plan dated December 21, 2004, shows the addition to the campus of about 53,000 square feet of interior floor area, 52,000 square feet of roadway, and 28,000 square feet of walkways.
