Teacher to be arraigned on 'sex with minor' charges Teacher to be arraigned on 'sex with minor' charges (January 26, 2005)

A former Redwood City Elementary School District teacher and Menlo Park resident will be arraigned January 27 on charges of bearing a son by a 16-year-old former student.

After a two-year investigation by Redwood City police, Rebecca A. Boicelli, 33, was arrested January 20 on charges of unlawful sexual intercourse and lewd acts with a minor.

If convicted on the lewd-acts charge, Ms. Boicelli would be required to register as a sex offender, said Deputy District Attorney Elizabeth Raffaelli. Ms. Boicelli is in county jail with a bail of $500,000.

Ms. Boicelli met the student when he was 14 and she was his teacher, police said. The student-teacher relationship had ended by the time the two conceived a child, who was born in June of 2004, police said.

The arrest of Ms. Boicelli by Redwood City police was the result of a two-year investigation that included taking DNA samples from the mother, father and child, said Ms. Raffaelli. -- Bay City News contributed to this report.
