Authors show, tell at children's book fair Authors show, tell at children's book fair (February 02, 2005)

Menlo Park author Jeanne DuPrau will be among the authors featured at the annual Children's Authors and Illustrators Faire on Saturday, February 5, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Orion Elementary School in Redwood City.

Ms. DuPrau's recent book, "The City of Embers," has been optioned by Tom Hanks' movie production company. It's the tale of two children's adventures in a fictional, underground city created after a catastrophic event alters life on Earth.

Children's authors -- including Elisha Kleven, Isabel Campoy, Walter ("The Giant Storyteller") Mayes, Elizabeth Gomez and more -- will read from their books, talk to children and sign books that are available for purchase.

Several publishers are launching just-published books at the fair, said Sharon Levin, an event organizer. They include the new Miss Bindergarten book, illustrated by Ashley Wolff; "Mama Goose, " a Latino Mother Goose; and "Moony Luna."

This fair is free and open to the public at Orion School, 815 Allerton St. in Redwood City.
