'Arts with a Heart' musical benefit
(February 02, 2005) Just in time for the Valentine's Day weekend, students from Castilleja School in Palo Alto and Eastside College Preparatory School in East Palo Alto are teaming up to present "Arts with a Heart," a musical variety show.
The show, to be staged at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, February 11 and 12, in Castilleja School's theater, is a benefit for Save the Children, an organization that works to promote health and education for children living in poverty in many parts of the world. The money will go to building schools in Africa.
"Arts with a Heart" features student artwork, original video art and musical, dance, drama and mime performances by students from Castilleja and Eastside Prep.
Last year's benefit, "Dancing for a Difference," raised $17,000, which was used to build a school and a fresh-water well in Ethiopia.
All proceeds from ticket and T-shirt sales and a raffle of student artwork will go to Save the Children. Suggested donation is $10 for adults and $5 for students.
For more information or to purchase tickets, contact Bear Capron, Arts Department chair, at Castilleja School, 328-3373, ext. 401. Castilleja l is located at 1310 Bryant St., corner of Embarcadero, in Palo Alto.
