Lecture on lighting trends
Bay Area lighting designer Nancy McCoy will give a lecture on the basics of residential lighting, trends, and kitchen and bathroom lighting from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, February 12.
"Flipping the switch on home lighting" will be held in Building 3 (Main Theater), Room 148, at Canada College, 4200 Farm Hill Blvd. in Woodside. The talk is presented by the Canada College student chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID).
Cost is $30 for ASID members, and $40 for others. For reservations, contact Heather Fry at 591-1231 or e-mail: heather.fry@sbcglobal.net.
Left Bank raises funds
Led by David Bastide, chef de cuisine at Left Bank in Menlo Park, employees of the five Left Bank restaurants have contributed more than $5,000 to aid tsunami survivors. The funds have been sent to UNICEF, which is providing care to child survivors of the disaster.
Employees at the Menlo Park restaurant led the drive with 100 percent participation.
Holiday drives
Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage of Northern California reports its holiday Toys for Tots and One Warm Coat drives netted nearly 7,000 toys and 2,500 coats for needy families.
Coldwell Banker is an official sponsor of both programs, and its offices served as collection centers. Many offices also adopted families for the holidays and raised thousands of dollars for gifts.
New name for tree-care company
The tree company, Safe and Beautiful by The Care of Trees, has changed its name to The Care of Trees. The name change comes two years after Safe and Beautiful was acquired by The Care of Trees.
The West Coast office of Care of Trees is located in Menlo Park. It employs five arborists and 36 staff members operating a fleet of 15 trucks.
