Vikings win Pop Warner academic honors
(February 16, 2005) The Menlo-Atherton Vikings Pop Warner football team has qualified 14 players for the Peninsula Conference Scholastic Hall of Fame, club president Bob Williams has announced.
Pop Warner recognizes athletes from 7 to 15 years old for academic achievement and community service.
Hall of Fame members must qualify for Pop Warner Scholastic Achievement awards for at least three consecutive years. Viking honorees and their schools are:
St. Raymond: Ryan Gaertner, Chris Gaertner, Ian Ritchey, Robert (Bo) Sakowski, Ryan Sakowski. Encinal: Max Culhane. La Entrada: Chris Barrett, Sean Barrett, Turner Baty. Phillips Brooks: Fred Kober. Hillview: Jack Brody, Ty Cobb, Alexander (Zander) Rohn. Woodside: Travis McHugh.
Viking teams have won a Northwest regional championship and reached the conference finals during the past two seasons.
