Work days on San Francisquito Creek Work days on San Francisquito Creek (March 09, 2005)

This spring, lovers of San Francisquito Creek will have several weekend opportunities to improve the banks of the Peninsula's last free-flowing waterway that is home to a run of threatened steelhead trout.

The Watershed Council is sponsoring several more Saturday morning workdays in March and April:

** On March 5, volunteers will plant natives on Upper Alpine Road in Portola Valley.

** March 19 will be devoted to pulling French broom at Damiani Gulch in Portola Valley.

** On April 2, workers will tackle French broom at Cow Hill Rill on Stanford lands near the Webb Ranch.

** On April 16, people can celebrate Earth Day by cleaning up the creek at El Palo Alto Park.

Workdays run from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Volunteers should wear sturdy shoes and long pants and sleeves to guard against poison oak. Gloves, tools, snacks and drinks will be provided.
