Ask the officer Ask the officer (March 16, 2005)

Menlo Park police officer Glenn J. Raggio answers questions about the police and law enforcement. Call 330-6396, or e-mail: asktheofficer@menlopark.org. Q. Have you ever been stopped by the police while you were driving off-duty? What happened? A. Yes, I've been stopped on a couple of occasions. I think officers become very directed in their driving; it's the "fast lane get there now!" mentality. I have been stopped for speeding twice. Both times I was extremely embarrassed and apologetic. I did identify myself as a police officer on both occasions and was issued a warning. Now, before you start cackling, I think you should realize that I'm armed with decades of the best excuses -- thoughtfully provided by the citizens of Menlo Park!
