Woodside councilman to resign seat
(March 16, 2005) Woodside Town Council member Dave Tanner announced last week that he is moving from his home in the Glens neighborhood and expects to resign his council seat in June.
Each of the seven seats on the Woodside Town Council represents one of the town's seven political districts. Council members are elected in a town-wide vote, but must reside in the district they represent.
Mr. Tanner said at the March 8 council meeting that he will leave his home on Glenwood Avenue in District 1 for a property he is purchasing in District 4.
District 4 is represented by Councilman Joe Putnam, who lives on Mission Trail, off of Canada Road.
Even after Mr. Tanner leaves the council, it's likely he and Mr. Putnam will still be seeing each other fairly often -- Mr. Tanner says he will be Mr. Putnam's new next-door neighbor.
Town Manager Susan George said the council will have 30 days to call a special election or appoint someone to an interim position once Mr. Tanner's resignation is effective. The councilman has yet to determine his resignation date.
