Police to hold meetings on identity theft Police to hold meetings on identity theft (March 30, 2005)

Mail vanishing from mailboxes. Stolen Social Security numbers. Pinched checks. These offenses are all part of the continually growing wave of identity theft.

Residents can get the latest information about identity theft and how to protect themselves at two community meetings being held by the Menlo Park Police Department. The meetings are planned for 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. on two Wednesdays, April 6 and 27, in the Menlo Park City Council chambers at 701 Laurel St.

The department will host the meetings together with the REACT Task Force, a partnership of local, state and federal agencies focusing on identity theft and high-tech crime.

Those who wish to attend are asked to RSVP to Victoria Martinez at the police department. She can be reached at 330-6327 or vlmartinez@menlopark.org.
