Stanford invites community to its campus
(March 30, 2005) Stanford University invites its neighbors to visit its campus during Community Day on Sunday, April 10, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This family-oriented, annual event includes a variety of activities, from a virtual tour of the campus with Stanford Video to slime-making with scientists, a health fair, drumming lessons from Stanford Taiko, art exhibits, athletic demonstrations, and lectures by professors.
The first 750 kids to visit the Cantor Arts Center will receive free Stanford athletic giveaways.
All events are free, and most of the activities will be centered on the Main Quad and Oval at the end of Palm Drive. Free parking will be available at the corner of Galvez Street and Campus Drive. Food may be purchased during the day.
Scientists from the Stanford Linear Accelerator, dressed like Albert Einstein, will celebrate with visitors the 100th anniversary of Einstein's most famous discoveries.
Landmark Hoover Tower will be open free of charge and visitors may take the elevator up to the observation deck for views of the campus and Bay Area.
