La Entrada Little League field reopens La Entrada Little League field reopens (April 13, 2005)

A packed crowd gathered Saturday, April 9, to celebrate the return of Little League baseball to a refurbished field at La Entrada Middle School in Menlo Park.

The Alpine/West Menlo Little League was well represented, said Dennis Di Ricco, a parent who attended the ceremonies. Kids from major and minor leagues, girls softball and T-ball were all there, as were the all-stars from last year, said Mr. Di Ricco.

Among the honorees were the 14 members of the 1999 Little League All Star Champs, 12 of whom were on the honor role for four consecutive years and two for two years. Twelve intend to play sports in college, said Mr. Di Ricco.

Honors also went to Dave Denier, a director on the board of the Alpine Little League and coach of the Professional Insurance team. Mr. Denier helped secure the funding to upgrade the field.

Celebratory first balls were thrown by Las Lomitas School District Superintendent Mary Ann Somerville and La Entrada Principal Dee Brummett, said Mr. Di Ricco.
