Police nab car theft suspects Police nab car theft suspects (April 13, 2005)

Menlo Park police chased down and arrested two men in a stolen minivan after a short high-speed chase that ended in a downtown parking plaza last Friday.

Around 4 p.m. on April 8, Officer Burke Bruttig spotted a green minivan suspected to be involved in a theft from a vehicle in the 2200 block of Avy Avenue, said Sgt. Andrew Kline.

The driver refused to pull over and sped away down Santa Cruz Avenue toward downtown Menlo Park, he said.

Less than a minute after Officer Bruttig lost sight of it, another Menlo Park police officer, Barbara Ayers, spotted the minivan on Crane Street and saw its two occupants fleeing through the parking plazas north of Santa Cruz Avenue.

Police arrested two men, and recovered the stolen property as well as the minivan, which had also been reported stolen, said Sgt. Kline. No one was injured.

Armando Guerrero, 30, and Jose Dominguez, 19, both of the Redwood City area, were arrested and booked into county jail on numerous felony charges, including possession of stolen property, reckless driving, driving under the influence and possession of illegal narcotics.
