Around Town: Wildflowers welcome Edgewood walkers Around Town: Wildflowers welcome Edgewood walkers (April 13, 2005)

Wildflower walks at Edgewood Park, renowned for its lush wildflower carpets and rich biodiversity, take place every Saturday and Sunday through June 12, starting at 10 a.m. and ending around 1 p.m.

Walks start from the Old Stage Day Camp. In addition, on five Saturdays (April 16, 23 and 30, and May 7 and 14), walks also start from the Clarkia Trailhead for easier access to the grassland flowers.

The free walks vary according to what's in bloom, and cover less than three miles at a slow to medium pace, with frequent stops.

Walkers are encouraged to bring a snack, water, hat and sunscreen. Restrooms and water are available only at the Old Stage Day Camp. No reservations are needed.

A detailed schedule with starting points and assigned docents, fliers that can be downloaded, and a new trail map can be found at friendsofedgewood.org.
