M-A robotics team takes design award
(April 20, 2005) Notable form and notable function have won the Menlo-Atherton High School robotics team an industrial design award from General Motors Corp. in the regional robotics competition held March 24 through 26 at San Jose State University.
The award credited the team's "simple yet effective" design, said school spokesman Paul Bendix. With its partner schools, M-A's team made it to the semi-finals in San Jose and is eligible to attend the national championship scheduled for April 21 through 23 in Atlanta.
This year, the robots -- which compete against the clock -- had to lift pyramid-shaped objects to specified heights.
