Kepler's 50th: Events and information
(May 04, 2005) Kepler's is celebrating its 50th anniversary in Menlo Park with a series of events and programs.
** Menlo Park Library Day , Saturday, May 7, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., The 11th annual celebration of reading will take place in the plaza in front of Kepler's, which will donate a percentage of sales of children's books to the Belle Haven Library.
** 50th Birthday Party , Saturday, May 14, from 1 to 4 p.m. All books will be 20 percent off. Entertainment in the store and plaza will include: a kids' sing-along with Nancy Cassidy; painting Jackson Pollock birthday cakes with Art in Action; the Banana Gods barbershop quartet; jazz bands; a Peninsula Youth Theatre performance of "Pirates of Penzance"; a game of Author Jeopardy with local notables; a raffle; and -- finally -- a birthday cake.
** "It's For The Kids!" -- a benefit for local children's libraries -- will run throughout May. When you buy a book, just say, "It's for the kids," and Kepler's will donate 10 percent of the sale to local children's libraries.
