Voting demonstration for people with disabilities Voting demonstration for people with disabilities (May 04, 2005)

People with disabilities will have an opportunity to try out different kinds of voting equipment at a demonstration on Monday, May 9, from 10 a.m. until noon, at Little House, 800 Middle Ave. in Menlo Park.

The San Mateo County Elections Office is giving the demonstrations around the county to allow people with disabilities to check out new voting technologies, and give feedback.

The feedback will help the county select the technology to carry out the Help America Vote Act of 2002, which requires that voters be able to vote independently and in secret by 2006.

There will be refreshments, and voter registration forms will be available. And don't wear perfume or anything with scent; they can hurt people with allergies.
