(May 18, 2005) Hands across the Bay
In a bury-the-hatchet gesture between two great universities, Albert Bowker, former chancellor of the University of California at Berkeley, will talk about Stanford icon Fred Terman in a talk Thursday, May 19, at 10 a.m. at The Sequoias, 501 Portola Road in Portola Valley.
Mr. Bowker, now a resident of The Sequoias, will give a lecture on "Fred Terman at Stanford: Building a new discipline, a university, and Silicon Valley," a new biography by C. Stewart Gillmor.

Looking at governor's redistricting plan
John Wildermuth, political writer for the San Francisco Chronicle, will discuss "Redistricting: The Governor's Plan" at the 51st annual meeting of the League of Women Voters of South San Mateo County.
The meeting will run from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 2, at the Tenfu Restaurant, 1352 El Camino Real in Menlo Park.
Reservations, at $20 each, should be made by calling the league office at 325-5780 before May 31.
