Hawaiian theme for benefit Hawaiian theme for benefit (May 18, 2005)

Members of the Menlo-Atherton District of Realtors and guests will visit "Kiahuna" (a special place) at their September 28 fundraiser to be held at the Menlo Circus Club in Atherton. The evening will include dinner, dancing, live and silent auctions and Hawaiian entertainment.

Real estate agents learned more about the benefit at their quarterly breakfast held May 9 at Left Bank restaurant in Menlo Park.

Guest speakers included KRON 4 anchor woman Wendy Tokuda and Dallas Teo, a senior at Eastside Preparatory in East Palo Alto.

The benefit's goal is to raise $100,000 for Students Rising Above, an organization that helps low-income, at-risk students overcome severe obstacles.

The organization has evolved from a series of stories reported by Ms. Tokuda and other members of the KRON news team. Dallas Teo, a student benefiting from Students Rising Above, has been accepted at Stanford University.

Lehua Greenman and Judi Kiel, both agents with Coldwell Banker's Woodside office, are co-chairmen of the September event.

The two women are also co-chairs of the district's community outreach committee. During the week of May 16-20, the committee is sponsoring RSVP (Realtors Service Volunteer Program), where 120 local real estate agents and affiliates will tackle household services for seniors and the handicapped.
