'Yes on W' campaign fundraising 'Yes on W' campaign fundraising (June 01, 2005)

The Yes on W campaign has built a significant war chest, says campaign co-chair Philip Lively, the result of 500 mailers with contribution envelopes that were sent out in February.

"We've gotten 106 individual donations, and they're all over place, from $25 and up," Mr. Lively says.

According to campaign finance statements filed with the town, there have been 31 donations of more than $100. The largest is $1,500 from Atherton resident Helen Schwab, president of the Charles and Helen Schwab Foundation. George R. Roberts, the founder of KKR, and John D. Goldman, an investor, each donated $1,000.

People who donated $500 are: Atherton Mayor Bill Conwell; Sam and Kelly Bronfman of Atherton; Alejandro and Lida Zaffaroni of Atherton; James G. Law of Atherton; and Arthur A. and Susan A. Biederman of Atherton.

The bulk of campaign spending has been for printing services, postage and newspaper advertisements.
