Walgreen store in downtown Menlo Park robbed at gunpoint Walgreen store in downtown Menlo Park robbed at gunpoint (June 08, 2005)

An armed robber held up the Walgreen Drug Store at 643 Santa Cruz Ave. over the weekend and escaped with cash and personal property of the employees in the store at the time.

At about 9:15 p.m. Sunday, June 5, a man described by employees as Hispanic, wearing a disguise and carrying a hand gun forced three employees into the store's back office, robbed them, then ordered them to lie on the floor and not call police, said Sgt. Kevin Paugh of the Menlo Park Police Department. The robber then fled the scene.

Menlo Park police arrived in "less than a minute," said Sgt. Paugh, but an exhaustive search -- with the assistance of police from Atherton and Palo Alto -- failed to turn up any suspects.

Police are asking anyone with information to call the Menlo Park Police Department at 330-6300 or the anonymous tip line at 330-6395.
