AROUND TOWN: Menlo horse show artist chosen AROUND TOWN: Menlo horse show artist chosen (June 08, 2005)

Members of the Menlo Charity Horseshow committee have chosen artist William St. George as the official artist for the 34th annual horseshow benefiting the Peninsula Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired. The show runs from August 9 through August 14.

Mr. St. George was chosen from a group of 80 artists because his love of artists is often reflected in his work, says Grayson Martin, chairman of the art committee.

His painting "Lippizaner" will be featured on the show invitations, the cover of the premium book, programs, T-shirts and posters. A print will be available for bid at the auction on Friday, August 12.

Mr. St. George owns an art gallery in Boston. One of his paintings was chosen by Boston public television station WGBH as the official artwork for its annual fundraising auction.
Community Heroes Breakfast

The names of the seven people to be honored will be revealed at the Community Heroes Breakfast to be held at 8 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, at Dominic's restaurant at Poplar Creek Golf Course, 1700 Coyote Point, San Mateo.

Helen Hausman of Atherton and Lynn Henley are co-chairs of the breakfast that will recognize local acts of heroism and pay tribute to those whose deeds have enriched the community. "The heroes are both public servants and average citizens giving back to the county of San Mateo through acts performed with no thought of recognition," says Ms. Hausman.

The event is sponsored by the San Mateo County Leadership Council of the American Red Cross, Bay Area chapter. David Louie of KGO television will act as host.

Joseph and Nancy Greenbach of Atherton are honorary committee co-chairs. Other Atherton residents on the honorary committee include: Atherton mayor Bill Conwell, Francesca Eastman, Edward Goodstein and Arthur H. Hausman.

The breakfast is $50 per person, with reservations required by June 10. To RSVP, call 259-1775.
