Crime news: Menlo Park man fatally shot
(June 15, 2005) Raymond Earl Price, 41, of Menlo Park, died in East Palo Alto the morning of June 11 after he was shot multiple times on the 2300 block of Poplar Avenue.
The killing, which took place around 1:50 a.m., is the sixth to occur in East Palo Alto in 2005. No suspects have been arrested.
East Palo Alto police officers and firefighter-paramedics from the Menlo Park Fire Protection District arrived on the scene after gunshots were reported, and found Mr. Price lying alone in the street with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.
Witnesses said they heard a verbal altercation between at least two men just before the shooting; after gunshots were heard, witnesses told police, they saw two people running east on Poplar Avenue, the Sheriff's Office reported.
A Sheriff's Office spokesperson said there is no indication that the killing is related to the May 30 shooting at 1503 Kavanaugh Drive in East Palo Alto.

Armed robbery reported behind Menlo market
A male victim lost a small amount of cash but suffered no injuries after being robbed at gunpoint behind a Menlo Park grocery store on June 10, according to Menlo Park police.
The incident occurred around 6 p.m. behind the market at 1209 Willow Road, at the corner of Newbridge Street.
The suspect approached the victim, took out a small handgun and demanded his wallet, Menlo Park Sgt. Andrew Kline reported. The victim complied and the suspect then ran from the scene, heading east on Willow Road toward Ivy Drive.
The victim notified the police immediately and described the suspect as a Hispanic male in his 20s wearing a black cap, blue coat and blue jeans, Sgt. Kline said. The suspect weighs around 150 pounds and is about 5 feet, 5 inches tall.
Sgt. Kline said anyone with information about the crime may contact the Menlo Park Police Department at 330-6300.
