Graduation 2005: Corte Madera School will graduate 55 Graduation 2005: Corte Madera School will graduate 55 (June 15, 2005)

Eighth-graders will graduate from Corte Madera Shool and the Portola Valley School District on Friday, June 17, during the "promotional exercises" that start at 5:30 p.m. in the school's multi-purpose room.

Erin Troedsen and Myles Tanous, student body co-presidents, will welcome the students, their families and guests.

A variety of awards will be given during the ceremony. Presenting the following awards will be: outstanding athletes, Dan Flahavan; service, Dave Macomber; academics, Karen Reis; CARE (that stands for Character, Attitude, Responsibility, Effort), Brigetta Brown and Jeff Mead; outstanding students, Rupal Sutaria and Brigid Corboy.

Students who have written speeches are being selected to represent their class as graduation speakers. "Panache," the Corte Madera School choral ensemble, will sing "For Good" by Stephen Schwartz.

Trustee Teresa Godfrey will recognize and acknowledge parents whose youngest child is a member of the Class of 2005.

Donna Carrion, president of the Portal Valley School District board, will assist in presenting diplomas.

A reception for graduates, parents and friends, hosted by parents of seventh-graders, will be held immediately after the ceremony.

Later the graduates will be whisked away to a surprise destination for the traditional Grad Night, planned by their parents on a surprise theme.
