Hengehold Truck Rental edged Lutticken's 3-2 in the championship game of the Majors Division of Alpine/West Menlo Little League on June 12. They defeated Luttickens 3-2 at the end of six innings to win the title.

Hengehold (15-3 regular season, 2-0 playoffs) previously defeated Morey's (PBM) and Lutticken's in the double-elimination playoff rounds to advance to the championship game. Lutticken's (12-6 regular season, 2-1 playoffs) beat Morey's in its third game of the playoffs, which resulted in its rematch with Hengehold for the title.

Lutticken's, led by Jon Jon Lamb's ground-rule double, jumped to a 2-0 lead at the top of the first inning. In the bottom of the first, Jordan Winawer put Hengehold on the board with a solo shot that cleared the right centerfield fence.

Jonathan Friedman's base hit and stolen bases for Hengehold in the bottom of the third evened the score at 2-2. Jason Cortella's home run, also in the bottom of the third, boosted Hengehold to a 3-2 lead, which it held for the rest of the game.

Both teams played strong defense and saw great pitching. Hengehold's Cortella and Lutticken's ace, Christopher Barrett, battled out the first half while Lam pitched two scoreless innings for Lutticken's. Winawer and Louis McCabe combined for three scoreless innings for Hengehold.

McCabe polished off his season by pitching seven shutout innings against Lutticken's during the double-elimination tournament.

Manager, Bruce Brege, will now lead Hengehold into the first ever Tournament of Champions, to take place Saturday June 18 at Ford Field in Portola Valley.
