(June 15, 2005) Public meeting on M-A arts center design
Craig Hodgetts and Hsin-Ming Fung, the architects chosen to design the new $17 million, 500-seat performing arts center at Menlo-Atherton High School, are expected to be in town for a 90-minute get-together with M-A parents and neighbors this week to talk about the theater's design. The public meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, at the new gym on the M-A campus at 555 Middlefield Road.
Driver crashes into Longs window
A 74-year-old woman crashed her vehicle Saturday into the front window of Longs Drugs in the Sharon Heights shopping center on Sharon Park Drive in Menlo Park. The accident occurred at approximately 2:20 p.m., when the woman stepped on her accelerator rather than her brake as she tried to park in front of the store, police said. Neither the woman nor any bystanders were injured.
USGS lecture on climate change
The disconnect between science and U.S. national policy on global climate change will be the subject of a lecture at the U.S. Geological Survey on Tuesday, June 14, starting at 7 p.m. in Building 3 on the Menlo Park campus at 345 Middlefield Road.
MIT political scientist Judy Layzer and Menlo Park geologist Hermann Karl are the speakers. For information, call 329-5000.
