Library programs continue in Portola Valley
(June 15, 2005) Although Portola Valley's public library at Town Center is closed and being temporarily relocated to Corte Madera School due to earthquake concerns, library programs for children and families will continue this summer at the Historic Schoolhouse at the Town Center, 765 Portola Road.
Tentative plans call for opening the relocated library in August.
Also, Portola Valley library patrons are encouraged to use any public library in San Mateo County, the nearest being the Woodside Library at 3140 Woodside Road. Reserve fees for items picked up at the Woodside Library will be waived during June and July, said Vicki Jacobs of the San Mateo County Library.
Family programs planned for the Historic Schoolhouse are:
** Daffy Dave at 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 21; the Fratello Marionettes at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 28; and Japanese storyteller Megumi at 4 p.m. Thursday, August 25.
** Children's story times begin June 29, with Infant Story Time on Thursdays from 10:30 to 11 a.m., and Toddler Story Time on Wednesdays from 10:30 to 11 a.m.
** Preschool Story Time, for ages 3-5, will be held Wednesdays from 11:15 to 11:45 a.m., and Lemonade Story Time, for school-age children, on Wednesdays from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. July 6 through July 27.
