Cover story: Reflections -- Our world, as seen through photographer Carol Ivie's lens Cover story: Reflections -- Our world, as seen through photographer Carol Ivie's lens (June 29, 2005)

This text ran with a three-page spread of Carol Ivie photos in the print edition of the Almanac:

In her 29 years at the Almanac, Carol Ivie dutifully photographed hundreds of school board and city council candidates, science fair winners, firefighters, committee chairmen, and check presenters. What she enjoyed most, however, was capturing the beauty of nature -- wildflowers, birds in flight, the sweep of the seashore -- through her lens.

Carol loved the outdoors, from childhood days spent fishing, swimming and ice skating in her native Minnesota, to visiting the beach in Aptos with her grandchildren.

Carol's special rapport with children is also reflected in photographs that capture their charm and innocence. On her last photo assignment before she died unexpectedly June 5, Carol photographed a 2-year-old child at the Atherton Library ice cream social.

The following photos reflect a few of her favorite things.
