The regular season of the AMA Softball League -- a collaboration between Alpine and Menlo-Atherton Little Leagues -- wrapped up June 4 when the AMA all-stars defeated Campbell all-stars 16-14.

That was a warm-up to the Wess Jones Memorial Tournament in San Jose, where the AMA Traveling Team played five games in two days and won the championship in the "B" Bracket.

Home runs by Jesse Ebner and Christine Flynn and superb pitching by Kimmi Wong and Kelsey Ramsey contributed to the victory.

The AMA all-stars are Samantha Bergeson, Jesse Ebner, Christine Flynn, Lauren Hennefarth, Lizzy Johnson, Erin LaPorte, Nina Loshkajian, Ryan Mainz, Kelsey Ramsey, Brittany Razavi, Lindsay Riches, Breanna Sevy, Katie Vallarino, Kimmi Wong, Christina York and Jane Yoxsimer.

During the 2005 season, more than 175 girls participated in four teams for girls 8 and under; seven teams for girls 10 and under; and two teams for girls 12 and under.

For the 2006 season, the league is looking for volunteers to help with scheduling, field equipment and maintenance, umpire coordination, evaluation day, picture day, coaches clinic coordination and equipment coordinator, says AMA commissioner Lisa Hennefarth.
