Volunteers harvest fruit for needy Volunteers harvest fruit for needy (July 06, 2005)

What is a sadder sight than a lawn dotted with fallen, forgotten apricots or oranges?

On the morning of Saturday, July 9, two organizations will team up to harvest unneeded fruit from residents of the Menlo Park and Palo Alto area. Village Harvest and Valley of Heart's Delight will then donate the fruit to local charities that feed the hungry, project director Susan Stansbury said in a press release.

To have the fruit from their trees harvested, residents should call 888-378-4841 or email joni@villageharvest.org. Residents can keep as much as they want and donate the rest.
