History buffs to tour Johnston house History buffs to tour Johnston house (July 13, 2005)

San Mateo County's History Buffs can enjoy a free guided tour of the 150-year-old Johnston House in Half Moon Bay, courtesy of the county Historical Association on Sunday, July 17, starting at 2 p.m.

The large white house at 110 Higgins-Purisima Road was a landmark for sailing ships after 1855, when it was completed and occupied by James and Petra de Jaro Johnston. It is being accurately restored and furnished by the Johnston House Foundation with advice from Smithsonian scholars. Their docents will lead the tour, which starts at the Higgins Road parking lot.
