Summer Symphony promises something for your soul
(July 13, 2005) Rhythm and blues legend Smokey Robinson will headline the 46th annual Summer Symphony on Sunday, July 17, in Frost Amphitheater at Stanford University.
The concert, which benefits the Children's Health Council, begins at 6 p.m. with a performance by the California Youth Symphony. Television personality Samantha Mohr will once again be mistress of ceremonies. Gates open at 4:30 p.m. for picnicking and pre-concert jazz entertainment.
Summer Symphony, a favorite mid-summer event on the Peninsula, has drawn fans to Frost Amphitheater since 1960 when Maestro Arthur Fiedler conducted the first concert. Featured entertainers of the past include Ella Fitzgerald, Benny Goodman, Pearl Bailey, Crystal Gayle, Peter, Paul and Mary; and Bernadette Peters.
Single tickets to Summer Symphony are $75 for chair seating; $50 for lawn seating; and $25 for lawn seating for children. For more ticket information, call 617-3859 or go to summersymphony.org.
