Woodside Library to close three weeks for renovation
(July 13, 2005) The Woodside Library will be closed for three weeks, from August 8 to 29, for landscaping and other exterior renovations, said Branch Manager Susan Goetz.
The $250,000 project to overhaul the parking lot in front of the library, located at 3140 Woodside Road, includes new landscaping and lighting, and more parking spaces. An entrance ramp will be added to the front of the library.
"People who have difficulty with stairs, families with strollers, and wheelchair users will find it more convenient to get into the library with the improvements," said Ms. Goetz.
The project is being funded with $225,000 in public money earmarked for library improvements and a $25,000 privately funded donation from the Woodside Landscape Committee.
Woodside Library patrons are encouraged to use any of the other libraries in the Peninsula Library System during the closure, such as the Atherton Library at 2 Dinkelspiel Lane, near the train station.
The Portola Valley library, part of which sits on the San Andreas fault, closed June 1 after library employees voiced concern over the building's ability to remain standing in a major quake.
A temporary town library is scheduled to open in August at Corte Madera School on Alpine Road. The town is also building a new library at the Town Center, with plans for a grand opening in late 2007.
