A number of Republican state legislators, candidates and representatives of nine Republican organizations plan to gather Saturday, July 23, for a cocktail party at the home of Atherton's vice mayor, Charles Marsala.

Open to the public for a fee of $40 per person, the event will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Cocktail attire is required.

Sponsors include the San Mateo County Republican Party, the California Young Republicans, and the Republican Jewish Coalition.

"This is an opportunity for several different Republican groups to interact with each other and talk about what they're doing," said Mr. Marsala about the event, billed "The Rising Tide III Summer Cocktail Party."

"Republican groups share core beliefs, but some have different focuses, including business, reform, and social issues," he said.

Among officials and candidates who plan to attend, he said, are: state Sen. Abel Maldonado, R-Santa Maria, candidate for state controller; Steve Poizner, candidate for California insurance commissioner; Assemblyman Keith Richman, R-Granada Hills, candidate for California state treasurer; Mike Vallante, chief operating officer of the California Republican Party; and Pat Dando, director of local government affairs in Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's office.

Radio talk show host Jeff Katz will interview guests throughout the night, Mr. Marsala said.
