'Quirky Kids' topic of parents meeting
(August 17, 2005) "Quirky Kids" -- children who have difficulty fitting into the norm -- will be the topic of a public meeting geared to parents at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, August 25, at Woodside Elementary School.
Eileen Costello, pediatrician and co-author of the book "Quirky Kids:
Understanding Your Child Who Doesn't Fit In," will talk to parents about when to worry and when not to worry.
Earlier in the day, Ms. Costello will work with teachers in the Portola Valley and Woodside school districts on challenges and strategies of meeting the needs of students who are different from other kids in ways that parents and teachers find hard to understand.
