Sara Fulp-Allen, a sophomore at Menlo College in Atherton, earned a spot on the five-member U.S. freestyle wrestling team and is slated to compete this week in the 2005 World University Games in Izmir, Turkey.

A two-time collegiate national champion, Ms. Fulp-Allen is ranked second nationally at 48 kg., said college spokesman Chris Giovanetti. She won silver medals at the World Team Trials in June and at the Junior World Championships in July.
M-A junior wins volleyball gold medal

Evan Fredericksen, who will be a junior at Menlo-Atherton High School in the fall, recently won a gold medal in the USA Junior Olympic Boys Volleyball Championships in Louisville, Kentucky.

He played outside hitter for the Northern California regional champions, City Beach 16s, which won the gold division of the club tournament with a record of 10 wins and 2 losses.
Stanford water polo seeks members

The Stanford Water Polo Club is now accepting registrations for the 2005 fall session.

The program is for boys ages 14 and under. There is no minimum age or skills requirement, however, each athlete must be able to swim 100 yards within two minutes.

The session runs from September 6 through October 30. Deadline for registration is August 31.

A two-week trial membership is available at no charge for new members.
