School Notes: Time to register for high school
(August 24, 2005) Parents of students intending to go to either Menlo-Atherton or Woodside high schools are urged to register their children before Thursday, August 25, the first day of school.
Enrolled students always take precedence over walk-ins, said Susan Berghouse, a Sequoia Union High School District spokeswoman.
For more information or to make an appointment at Woodside High School, call Maricela Medina at 367-9750, ext. 4318. To register at M-A, call Miriam Waugh at 322-5311, ext. 5121.

The Woodside Elementary School is accepting preschool enrollment applications for children who will be 3 years and 9 months old by September 1, 2005.
The half-day program runs from 8:30 a.m. to noon daily. Woodside residency is not required.
Fee information and applications are available at the school office at 3195 Woodside Road. For more information, call Cathy at 851-1571, ext. 294.
'Quirky Kids' topic of parents meeting
"Quirky Kids" -- children who have difficulty fitting into the norm -- will be the topic of a public meeting geared to parents at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, August 25, at Woodside Elementary School.
Eileen Costello, pediatrician and co-author of the book "Quirky Kids: Understanding Your Child Who Doesn't Fit In," is the speaker. For more information, contact Kim Brown at krb_jlb@yahoo.com.
Free tips on backpack fitting
Ill-fitting backpacks are a common cause of aches, pains and worse for children, says chiropractor Charmaine L. Tu of Peak Performance Chiropractic in Menlo Park.
Peak Performance is holding "Backpack Days" from August 29 through September 9, when parents can schedule complementary backpack fitting appointments by calling 233-PEAK.
There will be raffle prizes and treats for kids. The office is at 2100 Gordon Ave. in Menlo Park.
