Burglary report: Back window broken and lamp stolen, 200 block of Oak Grove Avenue, August 19.

Fire report: Grass fire next to vacant house in construction area, Park Lane, August 20.

Vandalism report: Tires on radar trailer flattened, 200 block of Polhemus Avenue, August 23.

Mountain-lion sighting report: Children said they saw lion in nearby tree, 300 block of Walsh Road, August 23.
Menlo Park

Burglary reports: ** Vending machine vandalism, Onetta Harris Community Center, August 19. ** Break-in, Belle Haven School, August 22. ** Garden tools stolen from shed, 1100 block of Sevier Avenue, August 24. ** Bike helmet and goggles stolen, 1100 block of Laurel Street, August 24.

Auto-burglary reports: ** Stereo stolen, 700 block of Coleman Avenue, August 20. ** Stereo, CDs and tools stolen, 500 block of Glenwood Avenue, August 19. ** Cable TV converter, tools and driver's license stolen, 200 block of Van Buren Road, August 25. Grand-theft report: Cash, mobile phone and watch stolen from unlocked vehicle, 1000 block of Tehama Avenue, August 24. Collision report: Motorcyclist lost control, tumbled down steep ravine and was taken to hospital, Highway 84 near Portola Road, August 7. Burglary reports: San Francisco woman arrested for attempting to cash counterfeit check, 2900 block of Woodside Road, August 18. Auto-burglary report: Tool boxes pried open and $8,000 in equipment stolen from seven tree-trimming trucks parked overnight, Moore and Woodside roads, August 23. Miscellaneous incident report: Crane operator taken to hospital after crane tipped over while lifting tree, 700 block of Mountain Home Road, August 22.
Portola Valley

Collision report: Mail truck crashed into fence after mail carrier slipped while emerging, grabbed gearshift lever to steady himself, and moved it to "drive" position, Corte Madera Road and Prado Court, August 9. Auto-burglary report: Driver left window open a crack, reset car alarm while watching soccer game, and later discovered purse stolen, Corte Madera and Alpine roads, August 19. Theft reports: ** Diamond earrings missing from residence, first block of Possum Lane, August 17. ** Backpack rifled and keys and mobile phone stolen, Alpine Road and Willowbrook Lane parking area, August 17.
