Wanted: Candidates for Portola Valley school board
(September 21, 2005) The Portola Valley School District is looking for candidates for the open position on the district's five-member governing board.
The vacancy occurs November 30 when Trustee Deborah Rappaport's four-year-terms ends. Trustees Donna Carano and Ray Villareal filed for re-election, but no one filed for the third position on the board.
There won't be an election, and the school board will appoint its new member at a regular board meeting on Wednesday, October 26.
District parents and community members, who are registered voters, are invited to submit an application and a letter, stating their interest, experience, and commitment to educational, youth and community activities.
The board will interview candidates the week of October 17.
Applications are available at the district office on the Corte Madera School campus, 4575 Alpine Road, Portola Valley or on the Web at pvsd.net. Completed applications and letters must be submitted to Superintendent Anne Campbell at the district office by 5 p.m. Friday, October 7.
For more information, call Superintendent Campbell at 851-1777, ext. 3010; or Donna Carano, board president, at 851-2880.
