Celebration at Stanford Red Barn
(September 28, 2005) The Stanford Red Barn Equestrian Center has undergone a multi-million dollar renovation and is celebrating with Stanford Farm Day on Saturday, October 8.
The day program from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. will have riding demonstrations by local amateur and professional riders, including the Los Altos Hunt and the Woodside Vaulters, as well as the Stanford Equestrian Team. There will be pony rides, a petting zoo and face painting for kids, a silent auction, and tours of the historic stock farm.
The evening program, from 5 to 10 p.m., will be highlighted by the Stanford Farm Day Invitational, a team show-jumping competition. Cocktails will be followed by dinner and a live auction. The auction will include trips to Europe and sports packages. Cost for the evening is $75 per person with advance purchase required.
The equestrian center now features a renovated 36-stall student barn with new hardwood stalls, therapeutic stall mats, and rubber floor. The historic Red Barn has also had a face lift with new stall mats and rubber floors, as well as improved ventilation. A show arena with a grass lawn and palm trees now faces the Red Barn.
The Stanford Equestrian Center is located on Electioneer Drive, near the intersection of Campus Drive West and Junipero Serra Boulevard, on the Stanford campus.
Proceeds will benefit Stanford's equestrian athletics program.
Tickets will be sold at the gate. The prices are $10 for general admission, $5 for students, and free for children 5 and under. Order tickets at www.stanford.edu/group/set or call 327-2990.
