Fergusson lobbies for flood project Fergusson lobbies for flood project (October 05, 2005)

Menlo Park Councilwoman Kelly Fergusson knocked on a lot of doors in Washington, D.C., last week.

Ms. Fergusson was looking for federal dollars to match local funds for San Francisquito Creek and its watershed.

She met with Rep. Anna Eshoo, D-Atherton, and the staff of senators Diane Feinstein and Barbara Boxer, seeking support for the Army Corps of Engineers' project to manage flooding in the creek and restore it as a habitat for threatened steelhead trout.

"Our congressional delegation is going to bat for us in securing funds for advancing much-needed local projects," she said.

Her message will be welcome at a special meeting to discuss the pending "Flood Damage and Ecosystem Restoration Project" on Wednesday, October 5, at 6:30 p.m. in East Palo Alto City Hall, 2415 University Ave.

The San Francisquito Creek Joint Powers Authority has invited over 45 city, town and county officials, as well as the public, to learn about the plans and ask questions.
